VCE

Students must complete 16 units successfully to gain the VCE.
These units must include:

Three units of English including Units 3 & 4

Three other Unit 3 & 4 sequences

Two Group A units

Two Group B units

Group A units are studies in: The Arts, LOTE, Health and PE, SOSE and Literature.

Group B units are studies in: Maths, Science and Technology.

VET units are classified as either Group A or B.

SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF VCE SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF A UNIT

In order to satisfactorily complete a unit the student must fulfil the purposes of the learning
outcomes as set out in the study design. Students should be provided with clear, written
details of the work they need to do to complete the Unit and for the assessment of levels of
Students have the right to appeal against the decision of nonsatisfactory completion of a Unit.
This process is covered by what was formerly the redemption process at this College.

RULES FOR STUDENTS

1. It is College policy that students must attend a minimum of 80%
of classes. Failure to do this may result in an N result for the Unit.

2. Students must ensure that all unacknowledged work submitted is
genuinely their own.

3. Students must acknowledge all resources used. This includes text
and source material and the name(s) and status of the person(s)
who provided assistance and the type of assistance received.

4. Students must not accept undue assistance from anyone in the preparation and
submission of work. Undue assistance includes: providing actual adjustments or
improvements, or dictating or directing a student to insert particular text.

5. Students must periodically produce drafts and work in progress to ensure that work can
be authenticated.

6. Students may not submit the same piece of work for more than one Assessment Task.

7. Students must submit evidence of the development of a SAT or Assessment Task – ie
drafts – with the final copy.

8. Students who assist others in breaches of rules may be penalised.

9. Students must keep all work submitted for Coursework Assessment until the end of the
year, in the event of review.

10. Computer failure is not an acceptable excuse for failing to meet
deadlines. Students must back up all work, have hard copies
of all drafts and have an alternative available in the event of
problems.

11. Students are not allowed, under any circumstances, to park
their cars on the College grounds.

Breaches of rules will be dealt with by the Level Co-ordinator or the VCE Manager and
must be reported to the Principal. Penalties will be imposed as per the Victorian Curriculum
and Assessment Authority (VCAA) advice and will be at the discretion of the Principal.

SPECIAL PROVISION

Special Provision may be implemented to:

Assist students experiencing significant hardship. This allows strategies to assist the student
to demonstrate what they know and can do. This is not reported to the VCAA.

Report Consideration of Disadvantage. The VCAA acknowledges the student’s
disadvantage. The student’s work is assessed according to published criteria and the
school’s estimated grades are forwarded to VTAC.

A student is eligible for C. of D. if they are considered to have been
affected to a significant degree by illness, disability, or any factors relating
to personal environment or other serious cause. The Level Co-ordinator
and/or the VCE Manager will make the decision as to the eligibility of
any student on the basis of the evidence provided. This will not be
discussed with classroom teachers without the express permission of
the student involved.
