Year 7 SOSE Melbourne Water Recycling Education Model Visit

On Thursday the 10th August 2006 the Melbourne Water Recycling Education Model visited Hoppers Crossing Secondary College and conducted an education session for the students of Year 7 B SOSE.  It was a very informative visit with the students obtaining a great deal of information regarding the water services in Melbourne.  They discovered the way water is distributed to homes and workplaces and the method used to purify the water so that it is suitable for drinking.  Other aspects the educational model covered about water recycling included the way in which water is treated and the differences between ground water, reservoir water and river water.  The students were also told about the importance of recycling water within the home and the importance of water to the environment.  Most importantly, the students where able to interact with the educational model and see the importance of rain and how drought can affect the environment and the different ways water may have to be produced in the future.
