Inside this section Curriculum Overview The curriculum at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College endeavors to offer all students the opportunity to excel all areas of study. Through its imaginative design and presentation, the curriculum encourages students to take more responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills necessary to achieve their own ambitions. Key Learning Areas [KLAs]All eight KLA's have a pivotal role in
the College's delivery of a diverse and engaging curriculum. Curriculum at the Junior School (Years 7 - 9)Curriculum at the Senior School (Years 10 - 12) VCEThe College offers a broad range of VCE subjects which will enable Year 11 and 12 students an opportunity to select a challenging and interesting course of study suited to their needs. VCALThe Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning is an accredited senior secondary school qualification undertaken in Years 11 & 12. The VCAL is based on hands on learning. Students who do VCAL are more likely to be interested in going into training at TAFE, doing an apprenticeship, or going straight to the workplace after completing Year 12. Student are able to construct their own units to suit their needs., Student are able to do a combination of VCE and VET subjects, combined with an school based new apprenticeship. VCAL gives students practical work related skills and experience, industry skills and skills in literacy and numeracy that are important to their life and work.
